Seeking Balance is excited to announce the launch of our very own 100% natural, non-toxic Bug Repellent Solid Bar.
Made with Beeswax, Coconut Oil, Shea & Cocoa Butter plus 12 pure essential oils, many of which are organic, this solid bar comes in a heart shape and will be packaged in a screw-top aluminium tin, which can be reused or recycled.
The twelve essential oils were chosen for their insect repellent abilities and reputations, but we purposefully left citronella oil out of this blend as it seems to be used in so many other products and we wanted something unique, yet still extremely effective. Our repellent works beautifully and it smells wonderful – give it a try and see what we mean. 😉
To use the bar, simply apply liberally to exposed skin whenever you may need protection from insects. The beeswax ensures it doesn’t just wash off with a bit of water, while the oil, butters and essential oils mean that it nourishes and moisturises your skin while providing protection from stinging / biting bugs.
It is safe to use on broken skin or on scratches or existing bites and will actually be beneficial to the healing process. It is safe to use on children and adults alike.
You may be wondering why the name Q17 was chosen and to be honest, there are a number of reasons:
In South Africa, no home is complete without a can of Q20 – the go-to product for squeaky hinges, rusted locks that won’t open, prevention of corrosion on battery terminals – and a host of other applications. On the day that our Bug Repellent was created, Q20 was featuring around the house and doing its magic.
So, the idea began to grow and thoughts of words beginning with Q started to come into play.
We wanted a product that would Quell any Quest that bugs had to Quench their lust for blood by being Quite barbaric and attacking us when we were Quietly minding our own business! We wanted them to Quiver with fear once they realised we had acQuired a product to fight them and that we had no Qualms using it to conQuer them and their bad intentions! 😊
The 17 came from the number of ingredients in the Bug Repellent:

Beeswax
Shea Butter
Cocoa Butter &
12 Essential Oils
& LOVE
That makes a total of 17 ingredients!
Q is also the 17th letter of the alphabet!
That is our story about the name Q17 and we’re sticking with it!
